Backpacking TN - Day-04

I took an early morning bus to Darasuram, it is 8kms from Kumbakonam. The historic Airavateshwara temple built by the Cholas is mind-blowing. The temple in itself is a school of art filled with intricate designs and I could have spent hours exploring the details inscribed there. Being the only one at that early hour, it gave me enough space and time to do exactly that. I will let these images speak for themselves.

Just outside the temple is a small restaurant and as I contemplating whether to taste food there or not, the server welcomed me with a smile. I walked in and what a right thing to have done. The Pongal I had there is one of the best I have ever had. I also tried their tasty plain dosa before heading back to Kumbakonam to visit three more temples.

I return back the hotel, packed my bags and head towards my next destination, Thanjavur.
